![]() Tampa Bay Buccaneers has a logo inspired by its name and hasn’t gone through many redesigns over the years. As for the uniforms? We'll have to wait just a little longer, they're set for unveiling on March 5th.The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Logo and the History of the Team ![]() Overall, a much improved look to this team over last season and the early fan feedback indicates most of you feel the same way about it. New for 2014, a wordmark which simply reads "BUCS", the shortened nickname of the club, this might be a good candidate for use on the uniform since it's much shorter in length than the standard "Buccaneers" mark, you can also just barely see that this logo is on the back of the new helmet in the pic a couple of paragraphs up. Again, the use of silver has been increased and once again the shade of red is lightened. Like the rest of the new stuff, it's all much more clean versus last year. These logos are typically found on jersey collars and in team endzones, so they do actually play a role in the overall new brand of a team. Much less exciting but still a part of the set, the wordmark logos have also been updated. ![]() The differences between these two logos are much more obvious, the 2014 mark is a much more realistic and detailed portrayal of an ancient pirate ship with waves crashing right into it, whereas the 97-13 image is much more simplified and heavy in its use of black. Very early candidate for 2014's best new logo of the year. The star of this new set has been the alternate "pirate ship" logo, which has scored a near record-breaking high rating over on SportsLogos.Net at the time of this post. While silver is practically non-existent in the 1997-2013 logo, it's much more prevalent in the new 2014 design, used as an outline, in the sword handle, and as a detail on the skull itself. The skull has been modernized, with a more menacing appearance and there's an update to the design of the sword, most noticeably in the handle. The flag loses some of it's tatteredness (word?) and looks much more clean, which might not necessarily be a good thing for a team using pirate imagery. Moving on to the actual logos, starting with the primary pirate flag mark which appears on the side of the helmets:Īgain the shade of red has been lightened quite a bit, as has the orange. The huge logo and the chrome facemask, it does all of that." - McCoy continued. People will see us and say, ‘That’s the Bucs.’. We want to be us and we want to stand out as the Bucs. “The logo stands out, and that’s exactly what we want to do in the NFL. she's huge! So huge it actually gets cut off by a ventilation hole in the shell. I love it, and I’m sure my teammates are going to love it."Īlso changed, the size of the logo. And the vibrant red on the side is going to stand out and shine. The skull is modernized and he looks meaner. "There are so many unique things about this helmet, and that’s what we want to be as a team and as an organization. Yes, the facemask is also chrome - this is the first of its kind in the NFL.īuccaneers Pro Bowl DT Gerald McCoy does a pretty good job describing it: You can really see the difference with the chrome in the logo and the facemask. You'll see the differences between 2013 pewter and 2014's chrome pewter in the actual photograph comparison of the helmets here: Black and silver remain relatively unchanged. The pewter, a silver lookalike which the team uses on their helmet shell, is now much darker and metallic (or chrome). (Team color information courtesy )Īs you can see, the red and orange has been lightened considerably - the new orange is actually spot on with their old orange of the 80s. We'll start with the color scheme since that has an affect on everything in the new set: What's changed between the new Bucs and the old Bucs you ask? Fantastic question. eh, nevermind, right back to the old look" embarrassment that we've seen teams like the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Pistons, and New York Islanders go through in recent years. Slightly modernizing your look over time is a great way to keep things fresh but also keep that connection to the teams of your past over time it helps strengthen the connection a fan has with the brand and avoids the "it's a total rebrand. The new Bucs look is realistically a modernization of their previous set, one which they had been wearing since 1997 - including during their lone Super Bowl victory in the 2002 season. Might have to keep those old creamsicle-colored jerseys mothballed for another generation or two. I'll first off apologize to fans of the old "Bucco Bruce" look of the 1970s and '80s, he ain't coming back, at least not this time around. and it didn't leak beforehand, well done Tampa Bay. Just two and a half weeks after the Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the first team out of the gate with a new look for the 2014 NFL season. ![]() The shoebill has long fascinated civilizations Usually the first to hatch survives only. The second egg is seen like a ‘back up’, in case anything is wrong with the first egg. The shoebill female always lays two eggs, but only one ever survives Research suggests, this is due to energy efficiency and survival of the fittest. Often the older, and bigger chick, can hurt a smaller chick, while their parents are away from the nest eventually driving it to live away from the nest. Rather disturbingly, this is actually rather common in larger birds. Shoebills chicks often bully, fight and can kill their siblings (known as ‘siblicide’) when only a few weeks old The nesting shoebill will vigorously defend their territory between 2 – 4 square kilometers (1 to 1.5 square miles) from other shoebill, and large birds. Shoebill are solitary in their breeding habits, with typically less than 3 nests per square kilometer They can also let out a high pitched whine, and even make cow-like ‘moo’ noises. The shoebill is usually silent, but they are known to clatter their bills loudly during courtship or greeting, which can sound a little like a machine gun.īill-clattering is a behaviour of real storks. They clatter their bills which like a machine gun This causes the fish living in the water to surface for air more often, which increases the liklihood of the shoebill striking and capturing its prey. The shoebill favours areas of poorly oxygenated water The shoebill often feeds at night, and is also known to stand on floating vegetation to hunt their prey. They often stands still for long periods, motionless like a statue, before launching a vicious attack to kill any prey that come within strike distance. The shoebill can take advantage of the disturbed fish in the water and strike. A shoebill can often benefit from the presence of hippos, which disturb fish, and bulldoze paths through swamps They are known to often behead their prey, before consuming whole. The razor sharp edges of it’s beak, allow it to decapitate their prey quickly Their beaks can reach up to 24cm in length and 20cm (7.4 to 9.4 inches) in width, which helps them hunt for fish or snakes as long as 3.2 feet (1m) in size. ![]() They have the 3rd longest beak in the world, which enables them to hunt extremely large prey, even baby crocodiles Only larger stalk species have slower flapping than the shoebill.ģ. The shoebill’s flapping when flying is one of the slowest of any birds, at a mere (approx.) 150 flaps per minute They are truly unique and beautiful birds.Ģ. They have striking pale, blue-eyed genes, which can make them appear not really real. They can also be extremely cute, and almost ‘cartoon-like’. They have a prehistoric-like appearanceĪt times, and from certain angles, they can appear rather menacing, peering down their long, razor sharp beak, with a hook at the tip. Shoebill have specific habitat requirements for breeding, nesting and hunting, and their swamps and marshes are gradually being transformed into agricultural land, or pastures for cattle grazing. The shoebill population is particularly difficult to evaluate with accuracy, due to where they habitat and their elusive nature, but it has declined – with estimates between 5,000 – 8,000 in total.īirdLife International has classified it as vulnerable, due to habitat destruction, disturbance and hunting. It has broad wings, with an average wingspan between 7.5 – 8.5 feet (2.2 – 2.6m). The shoebill averages between 3.5 – 4.5 feet (1 – 1.4 meters) in height, and weighs between 9 – 15.5 pounds (4 – 7 kg). ![]() The shoebill is an extremely tall bird, with long spindly legs, that allows it to stand in the shallows of swamps and on aquatic vegetation, while hunting for food. However, it does occasionally hunt and eat other prey, such as frogs, lizards, watersnakes, snails and rodents. The shoebill is piscivorous, primarily eating fish – in particular lungfish, as well as bichirs, tilapia and catfish. Shoebill were previously thought of as storks, but genetic research has re-classified them as members of the order Pelecaniformes and family Balaenicipitidae, which are large waterbirds, genetically closer to pelicans and herons. Occasionally frogs, snakes, snails, rodents & even baby crocodiles Its distribution is frequently associated with the presence of papyrus vegetation and lungfish.Įast Africa – Uganda, Sudan, eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Botswana and Tanzania. Shoebills are found in East Africa’s freshwater swamps and marshes, including Uganda, Sudan, the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia, Botswana, and Tanzania. They are sometimes referred to as ‘ whalehead‘. The shoebill is a large, elusive, stalk-like bird with an almost prehistoric appearance, due to its oversized shoe-shaped beak. How Did Bitcasa Aimed to Deliver Infinite Storage? Given the rapidly growing digital data consumption rates, the proposition appealed to individual users and businesses alike. How Did Bitcasa Aimed to Deliver Infinite Storage?īitcasa was founded in 2011, and it rose to dominance with an offer that was, at the time, virtually unheard of infinite cloud storage for a fixed monthly fee. In fact, the unacknowledged feelings were likely getting in the way of having a discussion in the first place. One thing that I realized during that discussion was that the feelings were in the room whether or not I acknowledged them. Finally, exasperated, I asked, “How do you feel about these two different cases?” A woman in my class who had never spoken up said, “I feel bad!” A few other students agreed, and as I probed why they felt that way, they began to talk about inequitable access to mental healthcare and the limits of the medical model, exactly the issues I wanted them to consider. I wanted students to understand the limits of treating psychological disorders just like any other kind of medical issue, however they were not engaging at all. I was trying to lead a discussion about the treatment of psychological disorders by comparing and contrasting two case studies. I’ll admit that I stumbled into the affective domain by accident during a somewhat frustrating discussion in an introductory psychology course. Internalization is the process whereby your affect toward something goes from a general awareness level to a point where the affect is internalized and consistently guides or controls your behavior. The guiding principle for movement through the hierarchy is internalization. Like Bloom’s cognitive domain, the affective domain is arranged in a hierarchy whereby learners move from simpler feelings to more complex feelings. The affective domain involves our feelings, emotions, and attitudes, and includes the manner in which we deal with things emotionally (feelings, values, appreciation, enthusiasm, motivations, and attitudes). However, Bloom also developed two other hierarchies, the psychomotor and the affective. Most of us are familiar with Bloom’s cognitive hierarchy, as any instructional design course relies heavily on those concepts. One strategy I have for writing good discussion questions is teaching in Bloom’s Affective domain (Krathwohl, Bloom, Masia, 1973). For a comprehensive list of techniques, here are a few ideas.īut perhaps the most important part of leading an engaging discussion is developing good discussion questions. There are a number of strategies for improving the quality of classroom discussion, such as breaking students into smaller groups or having stations set up around the classroom. Students are reluctant to talk out loud or they offer simple responses to the questions posed. ![]() ![]() However, as I’m sure most instructors can relate, far too often I’ve found myself in the opposite situation. One of the most satisfying moments in teaching is leading a lively discussion in which students are deeply engaged in the material and contributing thoughtfully. ![]() Lead site assessment for site technical data collections and analyses including risks on social and environmental impacts and review and evaluate technical document or data for accuracy and ensure project targets, goals and priority are achieved.Lead technical team members and engineers in the implementation of renovation of schools ICT labs, installation of ICT facility and system in Schools’s ICT labs, installations of solar systems in SAMES and health centers, and intallations of solar lighthing in the households. The Technical Project Analyst will be reporting all ICT related works or tasks to ICT Engineer and overall project activities to National Project Manager in a close collaboration with the Head of Climate Change and Environment Unit, and UNDP Country Office Senior Management (Deputy Resident Representative and Resident Representative) and other relevant units.
